Film Industry research IMAX

 IMAX

IMAX is a company that has its own line of high-resolution camera, projectors, film formats and theatres. The name often refers to the film format and the experience of watching a film. The main differences between a regular movie theatre auditorium basically boils down to the size of the screen and the auditorium itself.

In addition to this, IMAX uses speakers behind the screen and adjust the seating plan to always be facing the taller screen face first no matter where you are seated. IMAX also proves to have the highest quality imagery available, especially in the case of their physical 70mm film prints.

IMAX characteristics.

- heavy and noisy cameras

- 12k resolution

- massive film stock, cameras and projectors

- screens multiple stories in height

- the film runs through the camera and projector horizontally instead of vertically

IMAX was originally founded as Multiscreen Corporation before changing its name to a made up word that founders created to sum up their ultimate goal: maximum image. IMAX has been around for 54 years and there are about 1,500 IMAX theatre's in more than 80 countries around the globe. There are only 26 IMAX film cameras today. It costs about 400,000 thousand dollars to build an IMAX theatre.
