Comparison “Between no time to die” and “Black widow”
No time to die and Black widow are both major block buster films and both have a budget of over 200
million US dollars.No time to die in specific has a budget of 250 million dollars and a marketing budget of 100 million dollars. As well as this, it was filmed with one of the most expensive and largest cameras, IMAX. Visually it creates an attracting aspect to the audience which makes the movies box office sell a lot faster that a normal film being streamed in a normal theatre. In addition to this, the cast in No time to die are all A list celebrity’s starring Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas, Rami Malet and many more. This allures the audience of all age categories and genders to watch the new James Bond movie as the many fan bases of these famous actors will want to watch the movie. The lack of gender bias though female equality and women not getting objectified further enhances the attraction to the female audience as they can look up to these women as roll models.
The female characters are portrayed as strong and independent and even with the lead James Bond having to save them, they are not seen as a damsels in distress rather an equal ally. This also appears to audiences all around the world. Including this, the many stunts, explosions and CGI will immediately showcase the genre of this movie. As the franchise of James Bond has been around for 59 years there have been many reboots with 27 movies comprised of 12 James Bond’s which enlarges the target audience targeting the existing fan base and the global mainstream audience. James Bond is infamous for its big fights scenes and villains these visuals creerte a better experience and therefore this creates a theatrical skepticism.
The movie Black Widow is portrayed in a similar way. The budget of Black Widow was 200 million dollars and 150 million dollars of marketing. The actors in this film are also A list celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson who is the main character and Florence Pugh known for movies such as little women and midsommer. The location seen in Black Widow are a few, we have for example Norway with amazing scenery of snow and ice, Budapest, a train station and the subway of Paris. Similarly to Bond, using the Aston Martin and have many action shots with the motorbike in Black Widow, a BMW on a track is used. This is too attract a wider audience. In terms of scale, Black Widow has a epic visual sceptical which is when the only way to shoot a scene is to go to the city. This creates high level of verisimilitude. There is also the fact that Black Widow is a pre-sold element before it was even released we knew it was goofing to sell out and make double the budget they used to make the film. This is for the reason that it is a franchise, therefore it already has a stable fan base, and the A list actors.
In terms of audience, it is very diverse and having 2 female main characters it can be portrayed to more of a feminist audience in modern day society. Black Widow has a large mainstream audience all over the world.
These 2 films are very similar, they both don't objectify woman in the way that movies used too. This is done by for example in Black Widow her not having any love interests and not wearing revealing clothes. This is also shown in James Bond as he is known to sleep with many of the female characters shown in the movies but there is a woman who is shown to be strong and independent as she is able to keep up with the fighting shown and does not end up with Bond. These films sell the immersive experience as they contain subjective filming, IMAX screen format as options for their showings. these films also contain similar sponsorship deals as they have both been sponsored by car dealerships. Black Widow was sponsored by BMW and No time to die was sponsored by Aston Martin creating the market audience a lot larger. Both these films also contain special effects due to the amount of stunts explosions and unreal scenes that have to be made.
